Did you know that Pt. Noarlunga is a fringing reef? We had an excursion there today with the other year one class. The weather was just right. Fine with a little cloud and about 21 degrees. There were instructors to meet us and the children went in groups with them. We had to get into rubber dingies and that was scary but fun! We wizzed out to the reef with our thick socks on so that we didn’t damage the reef. Once we were there, the instructors showed us many amazing things. So much life is out there that we normally wouldn’t notice. We were told how the reef came to be in Aboriginal stories and the life cycle and feeding habits of reef creatures.
It was a wonderful day. Many thanks to the helpful parents who came with us.
Have you ever been on a reef?
What did you see there?

Looks like you all had a great day. I can’t wait to hear all about it.
What a fantastic day!
It looks like you all had a lot of fun and what a great way to learn about new things!
I loved the boat ride, getting wet socks and learning all about how the reef was once a sand dune. I never knew that! Thanks for letting me come. You are a fantastic class!
Wish I could have been there, too! It looks like a fun day outdoors-a great place to learn and live.
