Author's Chair

Mrs. Kolenberg was reading her tweets one day and a teacher mentioned an ‘author’s chair’ as being a way to encourage children to write during Work On Writing  time.

So she bought a VERY special chair that people can sit on only when they have shown that they are an author and have done some fantastic writing.

The chair is almost magical and makes you continue to do really great writing. We can’t wait to be the next ‘author’ to sit on the chair!

  1. Wow, that looks really cool!!! I wonder which lucky child will get to sit on it next! What a good idea to encourage kids to write stories!

  2. Guten Tag Kinder!
Wow, an author’s chair – how fantastic! I bet you all love sitting on that chair and sharing your writing with your classmates. What do you like writing about? It’s fun to use your imagination and be creative!

  3. What a wonderful idea! This has given ME an idea!
I have been teaching my preps to ‘read like talking’ and to make their reading ‘sound interesting’.
Perhaps I might get a SPECIAL chair for ‘Fluent’ readers! When they think they can read a book fluently and their reading sounds interesting, they can ask to sit on the chair and show us!
Do you think this would encourage the preps to practice and become better readers?
Thanks for the idea, Ms Briggs.
