SRC

At Craigburn Primary School each class has a process for electing class Student Representative Council members. The children nominated themselves as wanting to be our class reps. They then had to give a presentation and the rest of the class had to listen very carefully to what each child had to say.

After the presentaions the children had to vote.

What a fantastic job the children did! To stand up in front of the class and talk about why we should vote for them is quite difficult!

They should be very proud of themselves and it was very hard to choose our SRC reps.

Look at Smilebox and you will see who Room 4’s new SRC Representatives are.

Room 4 at Craigburn Primary School

Welcome to everyone visiting our blog. We are a class of new year ones and our teacher is Mrs. Kolenberg. There are 25 children in our class and we only started back at school from our holidays on Monday. Craigburn is a school in the foothills of Adelaide. We have lots of trees and are lucky enough to have many birds and koalas visiting. This term will be 10 weeks long. It’s summer right now and we have had some hot days around 35 degrees. We are going to learn about our body systems and keeping ourselves healthy as well as working together co-operatively.

Please visit our blog often to catch up with our learning.

Mrs. K has put together a video of our school. There are no children in it because no-one was at school when she made it!

Quadblogging Buddies

We have new Quadblogging Buddies for the start of 2012.

Quadblogging involves a four week cycle with four schools anywhere in the world who blog. Each school’s blog is the focus for one week out of four. Each school in the Quad spends some time visiting the blog of the school for that week, leaving comments etc. After that week, another one of the four schools becomes the focus. Engagement and motivation is raised as children become the teachers and not just learners, teaching others about their culture and school life.

We are very fortunate to have 2 schools from England and one from France!

The details of each Blog is on our Quadblogging Page. Please visit their sites to look at their fabulous learning and leave a positive comment.

The week beginning January 9th is the start of our Quadblogging. The first school is Roydon Primary School in England. We are still on holidays so Mrs. K will do her best to visit our new friends and put comments onto their blogs.

A New Craigburn Blog

At Craigburn we are so lucky to have lots of teachers who have taken up blogging.
Room 4 would like to welcome Mrs. Rayner who is our Music teacher. She has recently started her own blog and it will keep you up to date with all the fantastic things our students do in Music.
Please have a look at her blog and add a comment.

Whole School Assembly

Today the Junior Primary children performed some items at our whole school assembly. We have been learning a lot about place value and we thought that the assembly would be great place to share our learning in a fun way with rest of the school. Mrs. Nelson and Miss Harry’s classes joined in with us. We found this fantastic song on one of our quad blogging buddies blog (Miss Leach’s 2nd grade class) and we decided to use it.

Here is a movie of our performance.

Did you enjoy the performance? Please leave us a comment telling us about it.

And the Winner is………..

At Last…… we can now announce the result of the vote to determine where we will be going for our excursion.

We are going to the Toy Factory at Gumeracha and Melba’s Chocolate Factory!

The excursion has been booked for Wednesday 23rd November.

Please take some time to watch the following  presentations. I am sure you will be very impressed and perhaps you could go to these places as a family!

Decision Making Time

As you would be aware, the children in rooms 3 and 4 had to decide on an excursion that would be suitable for us to go on. There were many factors that had to be taken into consideration and lots of research using I-pads was undertaken. They then had to give a presentation putting their points of view across so that we might vote for their excursion. Once they had presented, we then asked the group members questions for clarification. The following photos show you what it looked like when each group was presenting to the unit. If you hover over the photo it will explain what was happening. Please talk to your child about the process. They will be happy to explain!

We were so proud of the presentations that the children prepared and in our next post we will announce the decision and share the presentations with you.
