In Our Classroom

At Craigburn we try very hard to build a culture of respect, optimism and resilience among the students, parents and staff. In fact our values of Caring, Self-worth and Respect are proudly displayed on the students jumpers and t-shirts as well as around the school.

Here is a fantastic poster that reflects these values and is one that is displayed in Room 4.

Many thanks to Krissy Venosdale for creating and providing this poster through creative commons.

What values do you have at your school?

Arthropods

Our Inquiry Unit this term is about Arthropods. We are investigating the features and functions of Arthropods, the role Arthropods have in a diverse environment and peoples impact on the environment of Arthropods.
Here is what we know so far.

Welcome Back To Term 3!

Wow, what a great first day for term 3 we all had! We had a new baby being born, a pet rabbit joining a family, birthday parties, camping trips, movies and much more happening. The children were so keen to tell Mrs. K all about their holidays. So we made  a wordle to show you the fun things we did. The bigger the words the more children did that activity.

What did you do in the holidays?

A Visit From Amy's Dad

Today we were lucky enough to have Amy’s dad come and talk to us. He is an Associate Professor at Flinders Medical Centre. He teaches medical students and also does research there.

He talked to us about the Nervous and Digestive systems. He brought along a model of the brain and we could take it apart. We learnt many interesting things about our brains and what happens to our food. We also learnt that it is very important to eat healthy foods and get lots of fibre.

Many thanks to Amy’s dad for sharing his great knowledge. We really enjoyed having him come and talk to us!

Camp Quality Puppets

Today we were fortunate enough to have The McDonalds Camp Quality Puppets visit the students at Craigburn. The program they bring is an educational puppet show for primary school children. They use almost life-size puppets, and show how  children become more aware of the need to be caring and supportive of children who have cancer. The program also promotes anti-bullying and optimistic behaviours.

The puppets were a great way to talk about a subject that affects many families.

Many thanks to the puppeteers for providing such a wonderful program.

Auskick

On Tuesday afternoon some of the children in Room 4 were lucky enough to attend an Auskick session run by the Adelaide Crows. The Crows are one of our local AFL football teams. The boys had a fantastic time and got to spend time with some of the players learning lots of great football skills.

Maybe one day the boys could be AFL football players! GO THE CROWS!

A Falling Branch

We have had some quite strong winds and today a big branch fell down by the parents drop off car park. It was quite big! We went down to have a look at it. In the photo you can see how big it was!
