‘Know Your Risks’ – Public Community Forum

The South Australian State Emergency Service (SES) is hosting a free public community forum on Sunday 27 October, 3-5pm. at Craigburn Primary School, 15 Murrays Hill Road, Flagstaff Hill.

This event will be co-hosted by the Sturt SES and the Sturt Gorge Community Disaster Resilience (CDR) Group.

The Sturt Gorge CDR group has been in operation for approximately six months as a targeted approach to developing individual and community disaster resilience. We work closely with group members to draw on existing community and risk mapping data to identify the area and/or groups most at risk due to a combination of emergency risk and socio-economic factors. Due to the severity of recent storms, the group wished to offer this workshop to residents and groups surrounding the Sturt Gorge.

The South Australian State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer-based organisation that responds to a wide range of emergencies and rescues across the state 24-hours a day, seven days a week, 365-days a year. Primarily responsible for responding to extreme weather (including storms and extreme heat) and flooding events, the SES also responds to road crash, marine, swiftwater, vertical and confined space rescues.

The forum will feature a panel of experts who will share valuable information on how to prepare for storms and floods, and how to mitigate risks associated with extreme weather events. Attendees will also receive a free showbag.
