The Yr 2 students have been learning about the iconic contemporary artist Ken Done. Ken Done is famous for his bright/vivid child like paintings. Ken Done is known for depicting famous Australian landmarks such as Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Great Barrier Reef.
The students learnt about Ken’s childhood and life as a Designer/Artists, as well as using their observation skills to talk about what he paints in his works of art.
The students were then inspired to create their own ‘Great Barrier Reef’ artwork using oil pastels and water colour wash.
Here are the Yr 2’s reef artwork. I just love the exciting colourful fish and vivid coral reefs, using the oil pastels.
