Getting to Know our Buddies

Our class have met with their new buddies and we have already shared some wonderful sessions this year. Over the last two weeks we have been designing, making and racing our own cars!  The buddy teams worked together to problem solve and achieved a great result.

BYO iPad Update – Induction Program

Have you seen this?? Have you read the latest info.?? Have you signed up for a session???

Over the next couple of weeks the school will be running induction programs for parents in preparation for students who are intending to bring in an iPad for personal use.

A reminder that this is a voluntary program and students without a personal iPad will still be able to use a school shared iPad.

When parents try helping students at home this is the question that is quite often thought about.

Many different strategies are now used when teaching students mathematical processes. Below is a link (click on the image) to a blog post that is aimed to support parents, students and teachers.

Building a cohesive, effective classroom

To start the year, one of areas we are aiming to develop in our classroom is the development of a cohesive, effective learning environment.

To do this we used a visual tool called a “Y” chart to look carefully at what an effective classroom might be like. Below is what the students came up with:

This also has a strong connection to our Class Agreement which the class helped develop about how we want to function as a learning community throughout the year.
