Sapsasa District Track and Field Carnival
On Thursday 28th March, we will be taking a group of students to participate in the School Sport SA Southern Heights Track and Field carnival at Athletics SA Stadium.
Students in Year 5 -6 and Year 4 students born in 2014 are able to try out for events in 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, high jump, long jump, shot put and discus. Try outs will take place during an Athletics session on Friday 8th March between recess and lunch with all Yr 4 (born 2014) – Yr 6 students. Make up sessions will be held during PE lessons and lunch times.
Parental consent is required for students to participate in shot put and discuss activities. If your child is interested in trying out for these 2 events they will need to collect a consent form from the front office so they can participate in the tryouts. Consent forms for shot put and discus will be available for interested students from Wednesday this week.
Once tryouts and nominations are finalised students will be notified of their selection to attend the Athletics Carnival. Year 4 and 5 students who make the team will miss out on one day of swimming as it clashes with the Sapsasa carnival. We will require parents to assist on this day once the team is selected.
Sports Day Sprint Run Offs
With Sports Day planned for Friday 5th April, in the coming weeks students will try out for the Championship Sprints and Relays which take place in the afternoon on Sports Day.
On Thursday 21st March students in Yr 2- 6 will run off in their year level and house teams for a place in the Sprints or Relays.
Students should wear appropriate footwear on this day. Students who are absent from school on this day will have the opportunity to run off against their peers in the following week.
Students selected to run in the championship races in the afternoon of Sports Day, will receive notification of their event once results are consolidated.
