CRICKET

A GRADE CRICKET

Term 1 for cricket has come to an end, and what a great performance from all children involved.

We battled against opponents all term that you could tell were more experienced than us, however the Craigburn kids still gave 100% every game and took all the games right to the line, with only one game not going the required 25 overs. The highlight of the term being the final game where we were able to come away with a 4 run victory, holding off Concordia in the final over!

All the children have shown growth and improvement throughout the year and bring a positive attitude to both training and games. Really looking forward to term 4.

2/3 MASTER BLASTER

The conclusion of term 1 cricket arrived swiftly. We were very fortunate to witness significant interest in this year’s 2/3 cricket competition, enabling us to assemble three formidable teams.

The boys have all made notable progress in their batting, bowling and fielding skills.

Particularly impressive has been the display of teamwork and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all the boys and we eagerly anticipate the challenges of term 4.

BASKETBALL

Year 6 Team – Craigburn Chipmunks

It’s been a great term for the Year 6 Craigburn Chipmunks. Chipmunks is a team name we chose last year because the Chipmunk is the most feared, and highest dunking, animal. Last year our players were learning the basics of basketball, and showed great improvement across the year, and this year many of those players have returned and their skills have come along in leaps and bounds. They are also really gelling as a team, and looking professional in their structure and the way they cover the court. Year 6 basketball is not all about winning, but I think the players are enjoying, and being motivated, by having some great wins in term 1, and being competitive in every game. We’ve had a couple of new players join late in term 1, which is great for our numbers, and we are looking forward to an even better term 2.

Their enthusiasm and hard work at training is seeing them make excellent progress and we couldn’t be more proud of the effort these kids put in! They have won every game except one, and we are loving watching their ball skills develop and seeing them grow as a team

Year 3 Team

The year 3 basketball team has had a great start to the year. Although we have lost a few games to the two tough St John’s teams, we have shown great improvement and nearly beat them in a high scoring shootout last game! This was our best game so far and really showed our improvement working as a team. We have had good wins over Belair and Hawthorndene and look to finish off the term with another win! The team shows great enthusiasm and support for each other and have all contributed in each game. Looking forward to more improvement and success in Term 2. Thanks also to the year 6s for running some training sessions for our team during school lunch. I’m sure these sessions help to build a supportive culture at the school.
