Welcome Back to Term 2 in the Craigburn Library!

Emily and I were thrilled to chat to students about the fantastic books they enjoyed over the holidays.

A friendly reminder to return any overdue books. If your child has returned a book but it is still appearing as overdue please ask them to talk to Emily or Krysten and we will help them look for it on our library shelves. Alternatively you are welcome to pop into the library or send us an email if you have any questions.

National Simultaneous Story time:

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an important annual campaign that aims to encourage young children to read and enjoy books as well as teach them the value of literacy. This year our JP students will be joining in the event on Wednesday May 22nd. The picture book Bowerbird Blues, written and illustrated by Aura Parker stars a beautiful bowerbird who loves to collect all things blue! It’s a moving story of longing and connection, that unfolds as the bowerbird’s search sends him soaring across the sea, sky and city. He swoops and snatches vibrant treasures for his collection, and soon his bower a mix of natural and unnatural objects attracts something greater and more fulfilling than he could ever have imagined. National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is  celebrating its 24th successful year and we have no doubt that the reading of Aura Parker’s Bowerbird Blues will continue to build this wonderful campaign.

We are so lucky that our very talented Librarian Emily and student Emily Smith have created a fantastic Bowerbird Blues display as part of our celebrations!

WE NEED YOUR HELP to create an awesome display that reflects the collections of our school community. We want to know what your child/family enjoys collecting – it could be footy cards, rocks, shells, feathers, dolls, Pokemon, bottles…. the possibilities are endless. E-mail us a photo of the collection with your child’s name and class attached and we will add it to our NSS display board!  dl.1226.library@schools.sa.edu.au
