As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to students, staff, and parents for their ongoing efforts and support throughout the year.
Craigburn students have embraced their learning with enthusiasm, upheld our school values, and participated in a range of whole-school and year-level activities, many of which were highlighted at our recent learner achievement assembly. Whether achieving learning milestones, showcasing talents, or demonstrating acts of kindness and gratitude, each student has contributed to making Craigburn a vibrant and inclusive learning community. We hope they’ve enjoyed their year and are looking forward to the holidays.
Our teaching and learning support staff have once again shown exceptional commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment for our students. Their positivity, enthusiasm, and focus on continuous improvement have been integral to providing quality learning experiences. Likewise, our admin staff—comprising the front office, finance, library, ICT, and grounds—have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our school running smoothly. Their professionalism, efficiency, and dedication ensure that every aspect of our school operates seamlessly. We deeply appreciate every staff member’s contributions and thank them for their hard work and support throughout the year. We wish them a happy, restful, and well-deserved holiday break.
We are grateful for the ongoing support of parents and friends within our school community. Your involvement and engagement in school life—whether through classroom support, after-hours sports, committees, fundraisers, excursions and camps—enriches our students’ experiences and demonstrates a shared commitment to their success and wellbeing. Special thanks to this year’s Governing Council, Katelyn Adams (Chair), Belinda Cece, Bec May, Tara Bell, Kim Altschwager, Kelly Howlett, Sally-Ann Prince, Annika Reinke, Bridget Dansie, Derren Halleday, Tamara McMaster, Skye Jeffrey and Lisa Mackie, for their advocacy and support. We also acknowledge and thank Sue and Kylie for their valuable contributions through the canteen and out-of-school-hours services.
Congratulations to our graduating Year 6 students. They are a wonderful group of young people, and we wish them every success in their secondary schooling and beyond. Special thanks to the Year 6 teaching and support team for their efforts in organising the graduation ceremony at the Capri Theatre on Wednesday evening.
Each year, we also bid farewell to families who have been part of the Craigburn community for many years. Your long-standing involvement has been truly appreciated, and we extend our best wishes for your future endeavours.
We look forward to an enjoyable final week of school and will share our last update for the year with next Sunday’s “Holiday Wrap.”
Warm regards,
Paul and Nicky
Celebration Night – Monday, 11th December
We are excited to celebrate our annual Celebration Night on Monday evening, a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together to end the school year.
The event will feature performances from all classes, showcasing the talents of our students through song and dance. The school choir will also lead us in singing a number of Christmas carols. We will also take the time to acknowledge and thank our students, staff, and parent community for their dedication and support throughout the year.
A special moment of the evening will be the farewell to our graduating Year 6 students and families and no doubt a highlight of the night will be the drawing of our annual Christmas Raffle. Thank you to all families who contributed donations to support this wonderful tradition.
Time
Students are to be in classrooms by 6:00pm, performances begin at 6:30pm.
A Friendly Reminder About Parking
Please be mindful of parking in the local area. We ask that you avoid parking on residents’ driveways or blocking access to properties. There are designated parking spaces around the school, and we encourage everyone to park responsibly to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and respect for our local community.
We look forward to a fun and festive evening together, celebrating our school community and all that we’ve achieved this year!

Class Placement for 2025 and Orientation Visits – Wednesday 11 December
As per last week’s post ‘Class Structure, Placement and Orientation Visits for 2025’ our class structure to begin the new school year with 17 classes has now been finalised, based on our projected enrolments and the requirements of the department’s student centred funding model.
The class structure supports our ethos of teachers working in teams and smaller class sizes in the early years of schooling. As is the case in most schools, we will have a mixture of straight year level and composite classes due to the varying numbers of students across each year level.
Students will be informed of their placement on Wednesday 11th December, where they will visit their new class for 2025 after Recess.
On the same day, parents / carers will be informed via a class placement letter along with their child’s end of year report. Parents / carers of children starting in reception will receive placement letters via email.
Supporting Your Child
We ask parents and carers to have a positive and supportive conversation with your child regarding their new class. It is common for children to come home from a transition visit with a range of emotions. In most cases, children will come home excited as they have met their new teacher/s and class, whilst in some cases, it is natural for children to come home feeling upset or worried about their placement.
Please reassure your child that their current teacher/s, and school leaders have considered the best placement for their learning and wellbeing. Encourage them to speak with their current class teacher the following day who will also provide reassurance.
Please know that your child/ren will adjust to their new learning environment and make new friends. Students generally adapt to their new class quickly. Early in the new school year students, teachers and parents will have the opportunity to establish positive relationships and connections at our annual Acquaintance Evening.
Please note:
- Due to the configuration of classes in some year levels, there will be students placed with their teacher/s from this year.
- We will not be in a position to move students. Moving a student from one class to another inevitably changes the environment of multiple class groupings and for this reason, we will not be in a position to move students.
Please read the recent post Class Structure, Placement and Orientation Visits for 2025 for further information.
Staffing Update
Our teacher staffing allocation has been finalised for 2025. Each year brings about a change to our staff list with: new teacher appointments, teachers leaving / appointed to other sites, teachers returning from or taking leave, and teachers increasing / decreasing their fraction of time. There will also be a number of teachers working in a part-time capacity where classes will be shared.
On Wednesday, we will share our updated staff list with families via your child’s class placement letter on Craigburn Connections.
Thank You
This week our science teacher, Laura Fazzalari (Miss Fazz), completes a one year teaching contract. We would like to express our appreciation and thanks to Laura for the passion she has brought to teaching science across all year levels.
We wish Laura all the best for the safe arrival of her baby, due in early March.
End of Year Reports
Teachers have finalised the end of year student reports, which will go home with students on Wednesday along with their class placement. Please take the time to read these carefully and take time to share in your child’s successes and discuss areas for future growth.
Early Dismissal – Friday 2.10pm
Students will be dismissed at 2.10pm on Friday afternoon. We ask that students do not remain on school grounds without a family adult member. Please be careful if collecting your child at this time, and be especially mindful of local parking and traffic regulations.
Gala Day Wrap-Up
Gala Day was a fantastic success, filled with creativity, collaboration, and fun. Students from Years 3-6 showcased their market stalls offering food, crafts, and activities, providing a wonderful experience for all. The event was a great opportunity for our students to learn valuable life skills, while also enjoying the vibrant atmosphere created by their hard work. Thank you to all students, staff, and families for making this day memorable. We hope everyone enjoyed the day and the chance to participate in this Craigburn tradition.
Craigburn’s Got Talent Wrap-Up
Craigburn’s Got Talent was an incredible celebration of our students’ creativity and skill. From singing and dancing to comedy and instrumental performances, students from all year levels amazed us with their talents. The event highlighted the diverse abilities of our students and provided a wonderful platform for them to showcase their hard work and confidence.
Thank you to all the performers for sharing their talents, and to the staff and families for their support. It was a fantastic hour of entertainment, and we’re proud of all the students who participated. Well done to everyone involved and a big thank you to Mr Marin for coordinating the event.

Year 6 Graduation – Wednesday 11 December
We are excited to announce that the Year 6 Graduation will be a special and memorable event, held at the iconic Capri Theatre in Goodwood. This is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the achievements and milestones of our Year 6 students as they prepare to transition to high school. The evening will be filled with reflections, speeches, and presentations, highlighting the growth and accomplishments of our students throughout their time at Craigburn. We look forward to celebrating this significant milestone with our Year 6 students and their families.
Salvation Army Christmas Appeal and SRC Casual Clothes Day

Friendly Reminders
Student Free Days 2025 – Save the dates
- Monday 17 February – Term 1 Week 4
- Monday 21 August – Term 3 – Week 1
Each year, the Department for Education provides an allocation of four student-free days for schools to use for staff professional development, curriculum planning, and administrative tasks. At Craigburn, these days are strategically scheduled throughout the year based on school and department priorities.
A further 2 student free days will be scheduled and communicated to families early in the new school year.
A school closure day (a day of local significance) will also be scheduled, which typically aligns with the week of the Royal Adelaide Show.
