Holiday Wrap – End Year 2024

Best Wishes

We have greatly enjoyed working with our students, staff, and families throughout this year. Wishing everyone a safe and joyous Christmas and New Year. We look forward to welcoming students and families back to school on Tuesday, 28th January 2025.

Celebration Night

Thank you for being an integral part of our school community and for supporting our programs and events throughout the 2024 school year. Your support is truly valued and deeply appreciated.

This was especially evident at our end-of-year celebration last Monday evening, where families and friends came together to enjoy the fantastic song and dance performances. A special thanks to Jimmy Marin for his outstanding coordination of the event, and to our class teachers for their efforts in preparing their students.

We hope everyone had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing you at future community events in 2025!

Christmas Raffle and Salvos Christmas Appeal

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed prizes for the Christmas Raffle and donated to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal. The raffle brought joy to many prize winners, and the generous food donations will bring smiles to those in need during the festive season.

Year 6 Graduation

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Year 6 students on their graduation from primary school, celebrated on Wednesday evening at the Capri Theatre. The students thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony and will carry wonderful memories of the evening with them.

Thank you to the Year 6 teachers and support staff for their effort and dedication in making the event a truly special and memorable one for both students and families.

We wish our Year 6 graduates every success in high school and in the exciting years ahead.

Awards

Two awards were presented at the ceremony – The Shane Browne and Governing Council Awards. The names of past award recipients are recorded on the honour board in the front foyer.

Shane Browne Award

Shane Browne was an upper primary teacher at Craigburn who was tragically killed in an accident in 1990.  Shane showed great love and kindness in his interactions with children. His special loves were science, music and maths. The Shane Browne memorial garden (at the front of the school) was consecrated a year after his death, with a special plaque laid on 27th September, 1991, with the School Council creating an award in his memory.  The award is presented to two students each year who demonstrate the school values of caring, self worth and responsibility towards others. The criteria used to present the awards are:

  • Upholding and demonstrating the values of Craigburn – caring, self-worth and responsibility.
  • Acting as a positive role model for fellow students.
  • Contributing to the ethos of the school.
  • Preparedness to put in and help out.
  • Foresight and initiative to make the school a better place.

All students and teachers of year 6 graduating students were asked to nominate students based on this criteria. The students who received the most nominations are this year’s recipients of the award.

Congratulations to Evie Miller and Lincoln Pastro

Governing Council Award

The Governing Council presents two excellence awards each year to 2 students who have demonstrated: consistency in performance and behaviour, striving for excellence, accepting challenges and having an exceptional work ethic.

Congratulations to Mikalya Hardy and Aren Pawale
