On Wednesday 9th September our class along with Room A3 and A4 visited Old Tailem Town. We visited Old Tailem Town as it linked with our new unit of inquiry on ‘History through the Artefacts’. Most of the class came to school dressed in ‘olden day’ clothing which looked fantastic especially when we were walking around the town. It took a long bus trip to get there! During our time at Old Tailem Town we explored the town and all the old houses and things that were once used in the ‘olden days’. We all packed into an old school house and sat at traditional wooden desks where the owner of Old Tailem Town (Mr Squires) explained what school was like in the past. Students were shocked to hear that you would get the cane for not doing as told! Some of the places we looked at closely were a dentist, horse stable, hospital, newsagency, fire station, police station, hotel, baker, church, cinema, train station, post office, town hall, baker, several residential houses and many more. A big thanks for Neil, Lisa and Alice for helping out on the day! Everyone had a fantastic time exploring and learning about what life was like in the past. Here are some photos from the day and thanks to Alice for the black and white photos.
Guten Tag!
I really enjoyed looking at the photos of your trip to Old Tailem Town. I think the black and white photos (schwarz und weiB Fotos) really make it look like you were from back in time.
