Learner Achievement Assembly

At Craigburn, we provide many enriching learning opportunities beyond the classroom for students to engage in as they progress through their primary years. At Friday’s assembly, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of individuals and groups of students across various domains, including:

  • ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools), Spelling Bee
  • Young Environmental Leaders Program
  • Premier’s Challenges – Be Active and Reading
  • The Commissioner’s Digital Challenge
  • Student Representative Council Leaders
  • Be Active, Gratitude, and STEM Leaders
  • School Crossing Monitors, Canteen, and School Bin Helpers
  • A slideshow, visually sharing the many enriching activities students have been involved with throughout the year.

Congratulations to all students who participated and led presentations during the assembly. A highlight was hearing from our Year 6 student leaders as they reflected on their growth and contributions. A special thank you to our dedicated school staff and supportive parents for facilitating and organizing these valuable learning experiences. Well done, everyone.

Thank You Morning Tea

It was fantastic to see many parents and friends join us for the morning tea in the library, where we acknowledged the invaluable support provided throughout the year. From assisting with classroom activities to volunteering for school committees, sports, excursions, and camps, your contributions have made a significant impact. Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the year.

Social Media Laws

On Friday you should have received a letter (via email) from the Hon Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia and the Hon Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training and Skills about the Federal Parliament passing legislation implementing 16 years as the minimum age to access social media.

The letter can also be accessed here.

Salvation Army Christmas Appeal and SRC Casual Clothes Day

To support the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, we will be having our final Casual Clothes Day on Friday 13th of December. Instead of the regular gold coin donation, we are asking our school community for assistance through the collection of non-perishable food items. Further details here.

Christmas Raffle – Donations Please

Thank you to the families who in previous years have donated items for our Celebration Night Christmas Raffle.

Again, we ask families to contribute if possible to our final school fundraiser for the year.

Please see the Christmas Raffle post for more information.

End of Year Reports

At this time of the term, teachers are finalising end of year student reports. As part of the reporting process, teachers have been working with year level team colleagues to moderate and discuss student assessments to ensure consistency of teacher judgement when reporting A-E grades for subject areas within the Australian  Curriculum. Reports will be sent home with students on Wednesday 11th December. For families who have a child absent from school in the last week of term ( and who have an approved exemption) will have the report emailed.

Student Free Days 2025  – Save the dates

  • Monday 17 February – Term 1 Week 4
  • Monday 21 August – Term 3 – Week 1

Each year, the Department for Education provides an allocation of four student-free days for schools to use for staff professional development, curriculum planning, and administrative tasks. At Craigburn, these days are strategically scheduled throughout the year based on school and department priorities.

A further 2 student free days will be scheduled and communicated to families early in the new school year.

A school closure day (a day of local significance) will also be scheduled, which typically aligns with the week of the Royal Adelaide Show.

Lost Property

Please come into school and check the lost property tubs near the second hand uniform shop. They are overflowing with jumpers, hats, lunchboxes and drink bottles.

Parent / Carer Contact Details
