A special shoutout to our class / specialist teachers, OSHC team, canteen and front office staff for opening up their learning and work spaces.
Friends of Craigburn – Welcome Morning Tea
A special shoutout to our Friends of Craigburn team for hosting a welcome morning last Friday. Keep a lookout for more community engagement events throughout the year organised by this team.
Reminder: Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 18th February, in the Library, starting at 6:30pm and concluding at 8:00pm. Light refreshments and nibbles will be available from 6:00pm, and crèche facilities will be provided.
The AGM is a great opportunity for parents to connect with the Governing Council, Leadership Team, and staff to celebrate our school’s achievements and highlights of 2024. It also serves as a chance for parents to nominate for the 2025 Governing Council or join one of the many sub-committees that support and guide various school activities.
For more details, including nomination information for the Governing Council and Sub-Committees, please refer to the Annual General Meeting 2025 – Information post.
Upcoming Student Free Day – Professional Learning Focus

School Sports – Soccer and Netball
Craigburn Primary School has a proud history of successful after-school sports programs, run by dedicated volunteer parents. These programs provide students with valuable opportunities to participate in a variety of sports, develop game skills, build teamwork, and, most importantly, foster a lifelong love of sport.
After school sports programs already underway in 2025 are:
- Cricket: Played in Terms 1 and 4 – for students in Years 2 -6. Teams are graded according to age and compete against other schools as part of the Sturt Districts Cricket Association.
- Basketball: Played in Terms 1, 2, 3 and 4 – is for students in Years 3-6. Teams are graded according to year level and compete against other schools on weekday afternoons at the Blackwood High School Recreation Centre.

Friendly Reminders
Student Use of Mobile Phones and Personal Devices Policy
A reminder that a ‘Student Use of Mobile Phones and Personal Devices Policy’ was introduced to schools in 2024.
We ask that parents are familiar with this policy which relates to personal devices not being carried / worn by students during the school day. Note personal devices, include mobile phones and smart watches that are capable of sending or receiving messages or calls and/or able to connect to the internet.
Volunteering at Craigburn
At Craigburn, we are incredibly fortunate to have the support of parents, carers, and friends who generously give their time to help our school. There are many ways to get involved, whether you have time during the week, on weekends, or just an hour here and there.
Some opportunities to volunteer include:
- Assisting in the classroom or supporting children with reading.
- Helping in the canteen, school garden, or library.
- Joining a committee, coaching a sports team, or assisting where needed..
- Accompanying students on excursions or camps.
- Supporting school events, programs, and other initiatives.
How to Get Started
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, all volunteers are required to complete the following steps in line with departmental policy:
- Volunteer Application
- Complete a Department for Education Volunteer Application form, including a declaration.
- RRHAN-EC Online Induction
- Complete the Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse, and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) Online Induction Session for Volunteers (approx. 90 minutes). This includes general online induction information.
- Role-Specific Induction
- Understand the responsibilities of your volunteer role as part of an induction with relevant school personnel (e.g., a classroom teacher for class support).
- Volunteer Agreement
- Sign the Department for Education Volunteer Agreement form, which outlines the school’s and volunteer’s responsibilities.
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Complete a DHS Working with Children Check (WWCC). This process is now self-managed through the DHS Screening website and is free for volunteers.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact the front office for more information. We greatly appreciate your support in making Craigburn an engaging and thriving learning community.
Safety, Traffic and Parking Reminder
A friendly reminder to families to please follow local council parking rules, especially when using the ‘drop-off and pick-up’ zones on Murrays Hill Rd and Heath Lane. Please, also be considerate of local residents when parking close to the school for any length of time. Please also note:
- Local Council Rangers often attend schools unexpectedly to monitor school zones and will issue infringement notices as they deem appropriate – including illegal parking over local residents’ driveways.
- Vehicles entering the drop off / pick up zone off Murrays Hill must continue through the zone if a temporary parking space is unavailable – this prevents traffic building up on Murrays Hill Rd.
- The staff car park is not to be used for the drop off and pick up of children as doing so is dangerous and causes congestion – unless using the disability access park and displaying a permit.
- Please contact the front office for emergency access.
