Book Week-Champions Read
We have had a lot of fun this week reading books that have been short listed for Book Week awards. We have read a variety of books both fiction and non fiction.
Room 4 are champions with their reading. We try to read each day. Mrs. K found a youtube video of some children singing about being champions. Thanks to Narelle Adams for allowing us to use her idea!
Here are the words to the song:
Read, read, read a book Try to read each day. Champions all love to read To exercise their brain.
Read, read, read a book It’s the thing to do We can all be champions If we read books too. |

Mrs. K then embeded the code into our blog.

Junior Master Chef
This week our topic for Show and Tell was… Junior Master Chef.
Here are the things the children had to consider:
Do you like to cook? Talk about something you’ve made in the kitchen. You may like to bring some photos of you cooking or even a mini taste test for our class judges! Make sure you are able to discuss the steps involved in your recipe.
Well, what a fantastic success it was! We have sampled absolutely delicious food ALL week! There was such a variety of tastes and sensations. As judges we gave our thoughts on taste, texture, sweetness, crunchiness, preparation etc. Then we had the very hard task of giving a score. Everyone got a 10 because the creations were all fabulous! Many thanks to the great parents who were chef assistants!
Junior Primary Assembly
We had our assembly today and it was just lovely! All the Reception and Year One classes sang songs to the parents and children. Everyone did such a great job. I am sure the parents that were able to attend loved it. If you couldn’t make it, here is a movie of us performing. We sang a happy song called ‘Wombat Wobble’. We hope you enjoy it too.
P.S.It takes a little while to load!

i-Pads and i-Pods
We are lucky enough to now have access to 5 i-pods and 5 i-pads across the early years team. Together with Mrs. Kolenberg’s i-pad, i-pod and her phone we have one moblie device between two children. After the excitement of getting them we had to decide what apps to put on for the Reception and Year One classes. Mrs. Kolenberg knew that her teacher friend Ms. Lirenman in Canada had spent a lot of time looking at apps and then shared them with her colleagues around the world via her blog called Learning and Sharing with Ms. Lirenman Thankyou Ms. Lirenman for sharing with us!
So we had a look at those apps and have started to put some of them onto our own devices. Some of my children in Year One helped me find the apps at the App store and together we made folders to put the new apps into. They were a great help. Many thanks to those boys!
We are very keen use these devices and learn from each other.
Here are some photos of the class using all the devices for the first time.
Do you have i-pads and i-pods?
What apps to you like to use?
What are your favourite books to read on the devices?
