At Craigburn Primary School, we have embraced a gratitude focus throughout the year, encouraging students to reflect on the things in their lives they are thankful for and finding ways to express their appreciation.
The Student Representative Council (SRC) have chosen to support the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, an extension of this gratitude theme, offering our students an opportunity to give back and demonstrate the power of gratitude in action.
It has been another difficult year for many families due to the current cost of living crisis. We all know Christmas is a time for joy, but for those people less fortunate, it is often challenging, heartbreaking and isolating. The Salvation Army has been a beacon of hope for countless families facing hardships, by providing food hampers to support families in need during the holiday season and beyond.
To support the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, we will be having our final Christmas Themed Casual Clothes Day on Friday 13th of December. Instead of the regular gold coin donation, we are asking our school community for assistance through the collection of non-perishable food items. Attached is a list of items that you might like to donate.
During Week 9, students can place their donations under the Christmas tree located in the school library. All contributions must be received by Friday, 13th December.
For our last casual day, students are encouraged to embrace the Christmas theme in whatever way they choose—whether it’s wearing their school uniform with a festive touch, casual clothes with a Christmas element, or even a full Christmas costume!
Let’s come together as a school community and show that gratitude is not just a word but a powerful force for positive change. By supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of families in crisis, and in doing so, we demonstrate the true meaning of the holiday season.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity.
