The Weekly Wrap 2025 – Term 1 Week 2 – 2025

It has been wonderful to see everyone back at school – with students, staff and families reconnecting. Students have settled into their new classes, and are engaging in learning. A big thank you to our teachers, support staff, students, and families for making the start of the year so positive.

As we move into Week 2, we continue to focus on establishing strong routines, supporting student wellbeing, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive school environment. If your child needs any additional support as they adjust to the new school year, please don’t hesitate to check in with your child’s teacher.

We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to another great week ahead.

Acquaintance Evening – Tuesday 11th February

We invite all families to join us for our upcoming Acquaintance Evening on Tuesday 11th February, from 5.30 to 7.00pm. We highly value the community culture we have at Craigburn and the relationships formed between home and school.

Acquaintance Evening is an opportunity for students, teachers and families to come together and establish these important relationships at the beginning of the school year. Further details here Acquaintance Evening – Tuesday 11th February – 2025.

Friends of Craigburn – Welcome to Craigburn – Friday 14th February

Our wonderful Friends of Craigburn team of parents and friends will be hosting a ‘Welcome to Craigburn’ morning tea on Friday 14th February between 9.00 and 10.00am for new and returning families. We hope to see you there.

Tell Us About Your Child – Years 1-6

As we continue to get to know our students and support their learning journey, we kindly ask you to complete the ‘Tell Us About Your Child’ form, which was sent home last week to families of children in Years 1-6. This form provides valuable insights into your child’s personality, interests, strengths, learning needs, and overall wellbeing.

If you haven’t already done so, please take a few moments to fill it out and return it to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and support—we appreciate your partnership in your child’s learning.

After-School Sports at Craigburn – Get Involved!

Craigburn has a proud tradition of after-school sports, with students from all year levels representing our school with enthusiasm and pride. Over the years, our students have participated in a wide range of sports, building friendships, skills, and lifelong memories.

Our success in school sports wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our parent volunteers, who generously take on roles as coordinators, coaches, managers, and scorers. Their support is invaluable in creating positive sporting experiences for our students.

Participating in school sports fosters a strong sense of belonging, teamwork, and school spirit. It also teaches important values like discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship, helping students develop skills that extend far beyond the playing field.

In Term 1, students have the opportunity to participate in Cricket and Basketball. To find out more and register your child, please check the following posts for details.

Registrations are urgently required for teams to be nominated and registered for their respective competitions.

Information regarding Soccer and Netball to be posted in coming weeks.

We look forward to another exciting season of sport at Craigburn!

Student Free Days 2025 – Save the Dates

As shared late last year – 2 student free days are confirmed for 2025, as follows:

  • Monday 17th February – Term 1 Week 4
  • Monday 21st July – Term 3 Week 1

A further 2 student free days will be scheduled and communicated to families early in the new school year. A school closure day (a day of local significance) will also be scheduled, which typically aligns with the week of the Royal Adelaide Show.

Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating

A reminder that the school and OSHC service will be closed if and when the CFS declares a catastrophic fire danger rating for the Mt Lofty District for the day ahead. This declaration usually occurs after 4.30pm with the Minister for Education confirming school closures thereafter. Families utilising the service will be notified by email.

Health Information

We ask families to please keep in mind some key guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our school community.

COVID-19:

We are still required by the Department to report any positive COVID-19 cases. If your child displays cold symptoms, fever, headaches, etc., please test them for COVID-19 and inform the front office if the result is positive. If your child tests positive, please refrain from sending them to school or OSHC for 5 days. No child should attend school while showing symptoms.

Gastrointestinal Issues (Vomiting/Diarrhoea):

Your child can return to school 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea. For instance, if they vomited in the afternoon, they should stay home for the entire next day.

Head Lice:

Your child can come back to school as soon as they have been treated for head lice.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we all work together to maintain the health and safety of our school community.
