As we return from our mid-year break, I would like to extend my thanks to everyone in our school community for your support throughout the first half of the 2024 school year. We are excited about the term ahead and the many activities and events it brings for our students to learn and grow.
I hope you had a safe and restful break with your children. We look forward to an exciting and productive second half of the school year. Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards, Paul
Green and Gold Day – Paris Olympic Games
To celebrate the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, our Year 6 Be Active Leaders have organised exciting tasks and challenges.
As per the recent post shared last week, to launch the Olympics at Craigburn and show our support for the Australian Olympic Team, we will be turning ‘Green and Gold’ on Friday, 26th July. Students are encouraged to come dressed in ‘Green and Gold’ – this can be an item of clothing and / or an accessory (eg yellow / green top, scarf, wristband etc). Please no face-paint / hair colouring. Be creative and resourceful—we don’t want families to feel the need to purchase extra items.
Alternatively, students may choose to come dressed in an outfit that shows off their favourite Olympic sport or athlete.
We’ll start with our Craigburn Olympics Opening Ceremony at a whole school assembly. The Be Active Leaders will pass a Craigburn Olympic torch around the classes as we celebrate the start of the 2024 Olympic Games. Over the following two weeks, students will engage in various tasks and challenges, celebrating sporting achievements.
Encouraging our students to embrace the Olympic Games offers many learning opportunities. The Games promote global unity, fair play, and inspiration. Learning about the Olympics exposes students to different cultures and the spirit of healthy competition. This encourages physical activity, perseverance, and goal-setting. The stories of athletes overcoming challenges and achieving their best can motivate our students to try their best in all areas.
We look forward to seeing everyone dressed in ‘Green and Gold’ or as an Olympics athlete to support for our Australian Olympians.

Welcome – new reception students, families and Miss Jess
We would like to give a special welcome to our new reception students and families who begin their school journey with us on Monday.
A warm welcome too, to Jess Watton (Miss Jess), who joins our team, teaching the new class.
Staffing Update
Renae Humphrys will be on leave for the first 6 weeks of term. Jodie Fischer (Mon, Tues, Wed) and Carmel Jones (Thur Fri) will be teaching the Year 3 class during this time.
Clare Aikens (Business Manager) will be on leave for the first four weeks of term. Sam Slattery will be covering for Clare on Mondays for these weeks.
School iPads
We are pleased to announce that our school is now providing a school-managed iPad for all students in Years 2 to 6. This means that if your child has been participating in our BYO iPad program, they will no longer need to bring their own device to school.
Please note that the school-managed iPads will stay at school and cannot be taken home at this stage.
This change is designed to create a safer and more controlled digital learning environment, ensuring that all students have reliable access to the resources they need while enhancing their overall learning experience.
Thank you for your support as we continue to improve our educational programs.
Library News – Olympic Readathon and Artist Workshop
