Year 6 Students Trai, Lincoln, and Jay Reflect on Friendship Growth
Trai, Lincoln, and Jay from Year 6 shared how they’ve grown as friends through the new Friendology curriculum. They’re proud of the positive changes they’ve made and feel like better friends than they were before. They explained how they’ve become more intentionally kind, highlighting:
- It costs nothing to make someone smile.
- Kindness is free and makes us feel good.
- Kindness spreads, creating a positive chain reaction.
The boys also talked about being more open, accepting, tolerant, and inclusive, which has made them feel better about themselves.
They shared how being “kind on purpose” helps them notice when someone feels sad or lonely, encouraging them to invite others to join in.
Trai: “I like the Friendometer because I was interested in it right away. It clearly shows whether I’m being a healthy friend or an unhealthy friend.”
Lincoln: “I know how to help others using the Friendology language.”
Friendology has taught them the importance of staying engaged in friendships and not walking away, as problems can grow bigger if left unattended.
Jay and Trai: “We like the Friendship Facts because they show how friendships can change. It’s okay if our humour is different in different groups.”
“Friendology has helped us a lot this year with friendship struggles by teaching us how to be a better friend and have a healthy relationship with a friend group. it’s taught us how to stop/put out a friendship fire and regain a healthy friendship. We have learnt to stand up for ourselves using quick comebacks but not create any conflict. It has also taught us how to be a best friend to yourself before being someone else’s. And just remember all friendships are different and change. It won’t always be a healthy friendship and have the same opinions on different topics and ideas. It has also helped us make solutions and work around problems to help friendships stay healthy.”
