Celebrating Our Wonderful Volunteers!
This week is National Volunteer Week across Australia. This is an important time to acknowledge the efforts of parents and friends who volunteer their time and energy to support our school in so many ways. Whether it’s helping in the canteen, assisting in the classroom, coordinating or coaching sports, organising fundraisers, joining excursions and camps, participating in the governing council, staffing the uniform shop, or supporting special interest areas – your efforts and support make a huge difference.
Please stay tuned for more information regarding how you can volunteer in our school garden and library. To learn more about volunteering opportunities, email us at dl.1226.admin@schools.sa.edu.au or call 8270 4144. We look forward to hearing from you!
School Netball – off to a great start
School netball is off to a great start. Thank you to all the coaches for volunteering to coach teams this year. It’s rewarding to see the girls enjoying playing netball and representing their school.
Game 1 Results – 11 May
Year 2/3
The 2/3 team played so well, considering half of the team has never played netball before. There were a few grazed knees but smiles all around with the team captain, Ivanka scoring the last goal.
Unfortunately, no win this game but lots of happy faces.
Year 3/4
Great start to the season for the year 3/4 netball team. I am so proud of all of the girls, they came together so well as a team for their first game, supported each other and had smiles on their faces the whole time!
Score 7-5 to Craigburn Blue.
Game 2 Results – 18 May
A very close second game for the year 3/4 team with only a goal difference in the score. Although we didn’t get a win this week they all had lots of fun and played so well again as a team, finding opportunities and already becoming more confident in their play. Craigburn V Hawthorndene 8-9
Colds and Bugs
It’s that time of year again when colds and bugs are making their rounds. To prevent the spread of illness, we kindly ask that students stay home until symptoms clear. A reminder too, that any student who becomes positive to COVID is to remain away from school for 5 days and for symptoms to have cleared.
Friendly Reminders
Plumbing Works – Front Entrance
Please be reminded that due to ongoing plumbing earthworks adjacent to the school gym/hall, access to the main entrance path remains restricted.
For the safety of everyone, we ask that children and families access the school through the car park area, which will be temporarily closed off to vehicles from 8.30am to allow safe entry to the school. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this time.
