Play

Today we had the whole Unit to ourselves. The 2 other Year 2 classes went on an excursion to the Migration Museum – we’re going tomorrow!

In Play we could choose any activity we liked. We needed to choose our activity (and stick with it!), find any materials that we might need and work on our activity together.

Some of the activities we did were:

  • building a HUGE cubby house
  • box construction
  • using the computers – to play Maths games or different sites we like
  • using the iPad – with different apps like Super 7
  • playing card games
  • using construction equipment.
We had a lot of fun – using the whole building for our Play activities.
During our sharing session at the end of Play we reflected on what we did, why our activities were successful and what we learnt. One of the main things we found was that everyone co-operated with each other and joined in with activities in a positive way.
Here are some photos of our Play session today.

Do you do Play at school? If so, what are some of your favourite activities to do?

  1. What a great opportunity to spread out and explore! Amelia was not well and spent the day on the couch at home. She sure missed some fun!

  2. oh, poor Amelia. Hope you’re better today and you get to go on the Excursion to the Migration Museum. What a great day for your adventure. Hope everyone has a great day and make sure to keep your hat’s on. 30 degrees. It’s going to be a hot one. Deb. (Jordan’s Mum)

  3. Amelia did make it for the excursion Deb, and she had a great time! She especially enjoyed making her bracelet and sitting next to Katie and Jayde on the bus ride. Who else had fun on the excursion??

  4. Will, I am going to guess that your day was spent on some type of electronics!! It would have been so nice to spread out and enjoy the space.

  5. I hope you all had a great time in town. I know Trent looked so sleepy and hot when he got home. You must have walked along way. Did you have lunch by the river and was it good?

  6. Jordan told us he fell asleep on the bus (twice) on the way home. Haven’t got many details as to what he saw. Perhaps a (girl) could give us parents more info. Boys sometimes forget some of the details.(or all)……But yes must of been exhausting.AND HOT!! Glad you made it Amelia…..Deb (Jordan’s Mum)

  7. I loved hearing about the excursion from Sam. I was very touched that he thought to send his cousin Craig, in heaven, all of those electronics, through the special ancestor ritual. I know Craig, would of thought it was very special too. I wish I could of been there to learn about so many cultures and rituals. What an amazing experience.
