Today our class participated in a rugby clinic run by George and Rory from Rugby SA.
We learnt lots of new skills and games that would help us to learn skills to play a game of rugby.
First we warmed up thoroughly and did lots of running and stretches. Then we made 3 teams and did a series of relays practising skills like catching, placing the ball on the ground with 2 hands for a try, passing and running with the ball.
Then we played following games that also taught us how to place the ball down on the ground and for our team mates to pick it up and run with it.
Then we played team games to encourage us to work together as a team.
It was lots of fun and we all learnt some new skills – most of us had never played rugby before.

Hi Lachie and Ms Sporn’s class
I have never played Rugby but my favourite sport is netball. It is played all over the world. Australia, New Zealand and England are the top netball nations. I played netball from the age of 9 years and always enjoyed the team spirit and the way you could pass the ball to your team mates. My favourite position was centre or wing attack. South Australia has a very strong team called the Thunderbirds and the captain of this team is Natalie Von Bertouch who is also the captain of Australia. Netball is a team sport for girls and boys.
Have any of you ever played netball?
Congratulations on the great spirit in which Ms Sporn’s class participated in Sports Day. Lachie’s grandma
Hello Ms Sporn’s class
I grew up in Sydney and played a few games of Rugby when I was in primary school. I liked playing in the centres or at fly half because you get to run with the ball. Rugby is a fast game and is lots of fun. Bill
Everyone looks like they were having heaps of fun on such a beautiful sunny day. Back when I was at school I played Netball and Basketball, but my favourite sport was Calesthenics which is a combination of gymnastics, dance, singing, and marching. As an adult I haven’t played much sport, but I really enjoyed Fencing (a type of sword combat)…it was heaps of fun and a great way to keep fit and strong.
