This term our new Reception class started with 13 new students. Our class has become their buddy class and we just LOVE being big buddies for younger students in our school.
Today we met our buddies for the first time. We worked out our groups and read the Receptions some picture books. We also discussed how we would need to help our mini buddies. Here’s a list of some of our ideas:
- be kind and caring with our buddies
- play games with them in the yard
- show them back to their classroom if they’re lost
- be positive role models – show them how to behave and use our best manners
- be responsible
- do classroom activities with them each week.

I think the buddy program is wonderful! I’m sure you will be great buddies, because I know you are all kind and considerate and will always look out for your buddy!
How exciting being big buddies. Its great for our new receptions to know there are big buddies in the school who they can go to if they need some help or just to play. Its a great program. I know Aiden is pretty happy he is Lochie’s first big buddie..
