Today we we went to the first assembly of the year. It was an assembly for the whole school and Mr Luke hosted it. Mr Luke explained where it’s safe to play and our responsibilities for keeping the yard clean and tidy. He introduced Ms Terrell, our new Principal. Ms Terrell was the Principal at Dernancourt Primary School and will be at our school for the next 7 years. We loved meeting Ms Terrell!
We’d like you to meet our class for 2013. We’ve had a wonderful day together – getting settled into our new class, covering our books, getting to know each other, making our stars and starting our learning together. We went to our first whole school assembly and met our new Principal Ms Terrell. It’s been a great day!!

What did you think about your first day at school?
One of the last activities for our year we held Secret Santa for all class members. Each person took home a diary note explaining the expectations of Secret Santa. We needed to opt out if we didn’t want to join in, we would each get a name that we needed to buy a small Christmas present for, we could spend up to $10. 00 but no more and our present needed to be under the tree by Wednesday of week 10. Everyone joined in and some people found it very hard to keep things a secret!!!! We weren’t meant to tell anyone who we had for Secret Santa but it was really hard!!!!
To give our Secret Santas some clues for items we might like we thought of 3 subject areas or items that we might like. This was a huge help to people.
As the gifts started to arrive everyone got more and more excited – some people were caught checking out the presents!!!
On Thursday we opened the presents and tried to guess who our Secret Santa was. Everyone LOVED their presents and it was just lovely to see so many happy faces in the class. We receive all sorts of presents – books, basketballs, games, T-Shirts, soft toys, pencils, erasers, pencil grips, art books, decorations, cricket bats, One Direction books, Lego kits, cricket magazines, Science kits, nerd guns, iPod speakers, lollipops, lip gloss, Ben Ten lunch boxes, buzz bombs, cars, a calendar, pet games and, hair clip sets and so many other items!!! How lucky!!!
Here is everyone with their presents just after we’d opened them.

What did you think of your Secret Santa present?
Did you enjoy joining in with Secret Santa?
We’ve been getting ready for Christmas. Today we went to the presentation by the local churches to participate in different Christmas activities and learn about why we celebrate Christmas.
We’ve also been making lots of Christmas decorations – many thanks to the children who have been teaching us how to make a simple Christmas decoration – plus providing all of the materials.
Here’s a bit of Christmas fun from the Jib Jab website. We hope you really enjoy our movies!!!
On Tuesday we had our last Year 2-4 assembly for 2012. Mrs Perejma’s class hosted the assembly and our class presented some Art work called Big Mouths. We folded art paper into thirds and drew a face onto it. In the middle section of the page we opened the mouth to show a picture inside.
Lots of children received awards in our class: Nathan, Jenny, Jamie, Samuel, Sarah, Maisie and Aiden.
Here are some photos of our assembly. We’ll add some Art work pictures soon.
Today our school had Pyjama Day. It was organised by our SLEG students. We were asked to come along dressed in our pyjamas and give a gold coin donation towards our World Vision student John. Most of our class were brave enough to put on their jammies and slippers – well done guys!
Here is a class photo of us in our PJ’s!! Don’t we look great.
Last Friday was our last Electives session. We had a wonderful time – again – and loved our activities. Here are some photos from our last session.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the parents who ran sessions for us -without you our electives would never have happened!! Thank you.
